Chhattisgarh’s Pride: Daily National Anthem Initiative of Shyam Nagar Village
Shyam Nagar Village in the Gariaband district of Chhattisgarh follows a remarkable daily tradition of playing the National Anthem at 9:00 AM, continuously observed since 26 January 2018. Led by the Samarpan Group with full community participation, the anthem is broadcast across the village through nearly 20 community-funded loudspeakers. Before it begins, an announcement and a patriotic song alert residents, after which people of all ages pause their activities and stand in respectful attention. This inspiring practice has strengthened national pride, unity and civic discipline.
Dr. Munnalal Devdas played a key role in documenting and promoting this historic initiative. His publication titled “Shyamnagar Me Rashtragaan Ki Anuthi Parampara” brought wider recognition to the village’s tradition and helped secure its inclusion in The Ideal Indian Book of Records.
